How To Tie A Sarong
1. The Tahitian Roll
2. The Cocktail Dress
3. Blouse and Skirt In One
4. Simple Bathing Suit Wrap
5. Full Coverage Dress Or Skirt
Full Coverage Dress/Skirt
This style overlaps and covers you completely - no need for bathing suit underneath - and works well for larger sizes. This style is a little more complicated, but worth it!
Steps 1 & 2
1. & 2. Start with sarong behind back at bust or waist.
Steps 3 & 4
3. & 4. For the dress: hold out in front of you and grab fabric 10 - 18 inches back from corners of sarong. Hold onto these pieces (where model is shown holding with the index finger and thumb.) Now let the far end of the fabric fall down freely. With the small portion that is still in the thumb and finger, twist a small handful of fabric on each side in order to tie these together. You should have as much left over fabric as possible hanging down in front.
Steps 5 & 6
5. Tie these two pieces together, making a small tight knot.
6. Tie once more to secure; you will have some excess fabric bunched up in front of you.
Steps 7 - 10
7. Take one of the corners and tuck it under the dress close to your armpit.
8. Take the remaining end and tuck it over the dress on the other side (close to the other armpit) and smooth both sides. Now you've got a dress that overlaps well, and not just a beach wrap!
9. You can do the same for a skirt! (long, or folded lengthwise for shorter skirts) Just leave one side long and loose. Tie the bunched up end to the regular corner end, making sure that the knot is small and very tight.
10.Then take the left over fabric and tuck it under the skirt, working it around your body to drape smoothly. The very end piece will be peeking up and out from the inside and this is how you'll know that you're safe from that big gust of wind - just check the little flap occasionally to make sure you're good and covered!
